Half a dozen techniques for creating the illusion of texture in photographs, illustrated with 19 pictures, rather over half in colour. The emphasis on colour is because to a large extent we can be easily fooled by black and white: our brains are willing to 'read' grain as almost anything, from skin to stone to wood.
Broken Treasures
As noted in the module, there is a bit of a problem in illustrating this: a computer monitor just isn't sharp enough to render certain kinds of texture satisfactorily, so to some extent, you have to trust what we say, rather than what we show. Obviously there's a good deal about sharpness in here too.
