Roger has been interested in Tibet and all things Tibetan since he was a very small boy -- a good argument, perhaps, for past lives. And the youngest brother of HH Dalai Lama once said to him, "Oh yes, you and I must have been close in our past life" (we are about the same age).  An observation like this tends to have more weight from an incarnate lama than from an average hippie...

Be that as it may, the biography of HH led to the other book, essentially a propaganda book for the Tibetan government in exile. The behaviour of the Chinese in Tibet -- and indeed, in all the other occupied countries they claim as part of China -- has been genocidal. And yet, because they have nuclear weapons and provide cheap goods, they are good guys. Saddam Hussein's regime was deeply vile, but the Chinese communist regime is infinitely more vile.
