We are completely reworking the gallery to improve the quality of the pictures: less aggressive JPEG compression and more careful matching to a broader range of monitors. We thought of taking the older pictures down but we thought people might be interested to see them even if the quality is not what it should be. Click here for access to the old gallery, as well as for information about the changes, notes on monitor adjustment, and so forth.
Access to the gallery is free -- it could hardly be otherwise -- but (where available) extended captions are automatically available to subscribers through Photo School; the stories behind the pictures: equipment, materials, techniques.
